Villa Iblea – Ragusa

The twelve artists we are presenting this summer at Villa Iblea form a constellation of stars that have accompanied us throughout the year. Most of them have come to work in residence in our countryside, while others will be invited to do so in the near future.
Maura Biava came from Amsterdam to photograph, cut, and assemble. Thanks to the support of the Institut Français, Elisa Florimond left a copper trace in the valley of the wheat fields, pointing north. Lorraine Hellweg and Maxime Leleux came to enjoy a productive pause, engraving and capturing the flowering of the cacti during their Palermo residency organised by Kulturensemble. Following his visit to Paris in 2001, Mark Hosking will come to try to capture the rodents that inhabit the Villa. Luke James, whom we first met more than ten years ago between Paris and Brussels, stopped by to install a dance floor for ladies. Regine Kolle witnessed the transplantation of the trees. Célia Picard and Hannes Schreckensberger took the opportunity of their exhibition at Garage Fontana in Modica to extend their observations and artistic production at the farm. Daphné Targotay and Anna Safiatou Touré present La sete (Thirst), a film made during their residency at Fondazione Sant'Elia in Palermo. Finally, Michel Valladon has brought together a group of paintings whose chromatic resonances enter into dialogue with Villa Iblea.
